Die Pastorie, or “The Parsonage”, was established in 1881 and was originally a modest building for the pastor of the nearby De Oude Kerk, now the Riebeek Valley Museum. Although De Oude Kerk was established in 1855, the arrival of a pastor in Riebeek Kasteel was delayed until 1881 due to financial constraints.
In 1977, the Du Toit family of Kloovenburg purchased the Parsonage from the Dutch Reformed Church and began transforming the property into the luxurious Kloovenburg Guesthouse. The renovation included French and Victorian architectural additions, as well as modern amenities.
