Wondering what to do in Riebeek Kasteel? The Riebeek Kasteel Heritage Walk is a free activity and self-guided tour through the village to discover its history, heritage architecture, and people.
You’ll get the best experience with the online tour since it’s mobile-friendly with step-by-step directions and consumes as little as 20MB of data. A brochure with the map and summarised details is also available for download and printing.
Your Route
Your starting point is the Riebeek Valley Tourism Office, situated at the first location A1 in what was originally Basson’s General Store on the corner of Sarel Cilliers and Plein Street.
The walk route is a total distance of 3.75km and is marked in black with directional arrows on the map. Additional off the track locations outside the village are labelled in brown with “B” tags.

Before You Start
The Heritage Walk is a free activity suitable for all ages, although adult supervision for young children is advised when crossing the roads.
You will need some comfortable shoes for walking, as well as some drinking water. You’ll also need protection from the sun during the warm seasons, or a jacket in case rain is forecast.
Please note that most of the marked locations are lovingly owned and occupied by private residents, and we kindly ask that you respect their privacy by not requesting entry or taking photographs where people are visible.
